Consultation on reforms to council meeting practices

In December 2024, the Office of Local Government (OLG) invited feedback from the local government sector and others on proposed amendments to the Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in NSW (Model Meeting Code).

 

The proposed amendments to the Model Code of Meeting Practice are part of the NSW Government’s Councillor Conduct Framework Reforms  and help ensure that councillors are visibly in control of their councils, demonstrating to the community that decision making is genuinely local.

 

Consultation has now closed, with a total of 181 submissions received through the consultation period providing feedback on the proposed reforms. To maintain privacy and confidentiality, each submission required a thorough review and redactions, which contributed to the delay in publication of submissions.

Submissions on the consultation draft can now be accessed by clicking on the corresponding ‘Submission link’ in the table below. Submissions numbered from 126 to 180 were received via the Office of Local Government’s website online form.

 

If a link has not been provided in the table, the author has requested that their submission remains confidential. Personal information and any potentially defamatory content have been redacted from the published submissions.
